M88MB3000/1 – Montage Advanced Memory Buffer MontBridge™ The AMB - MontBridge™ - is a key device for use in the emerging FB-DIMMs. Fully compliant with the latest JEDEC AMB specification, the MontBridge™ helps to provide high-capacity, high-performance memory for demanding applications such as servers and work stations. The FB-DIMMs connect to each other, as well as connect to the memory controller, using a high-speed, serial and point-to-point architecture. The MontBridge™ chip is the heart of this architecture. Located on each of the FB-DIMMs, the MontBridge™ chip handles the FB-DIMM channel and memory requests to and from the local DIMM, and forwards the requests to the next DIMM or the memory controller. This unique channel structure increases speed, capacity and reliability of the memory, thus eliminates the memory bottlenecks in applications require high-performance memory. The memory interface of the MontBridge™ allows direct connection to DDR2-533, DDR2-667 or DDR2-800 commodity DRAM devices, and its FB-DIMM channel interface enables bit rate at 3.2, 4.0 or 4.8 Gbps. With all these rich reatures available, the MontBridge™ works at an ultra-low power (< 3.5 W in active mode).
